Acumen ‘Tulip’ EP Out Now

French Producer Acumen is very much part of the furniture these days here at Selador HQ. So much so, it’s high time he had his own key to the front door! With several releases already under his belt not to mention a string of remixes, he’s now back with another 3 tracker that’s all set turn heads and ruffle a few feathers in the process.

We get sent a lot of music from Antoine. Prolific doesn’t even cover it. No sooner had he dropped an artist album earlier in the summer for his own Time Has Changed imprint, than 3 weeks later, he sent us another album’s worth of material, all of the highest quality. Our only problem was picking out our 3 favourites. Hard work or hardly working? You decide 😉

So here they are. In all their glory. Take your pick.

It’s a win, win situation.

Out Now – 5th Birthday EP Part Two

Selador’s 5th Birthday celebrations continue apace with the second of our trilogy of commemorative EPs featuring exclusive collaborations between some of the label’s family of artists.

Part 2 kicks off with the boss men Dave Seaman & Steve Parry who come together for the first time in the studio and as you’d expect, the result is pure Selador. ‘Repeat Offender’ carries all the hallmarks of the what you’ve come to expect from the label. Carefully crafted, contemporary club music with unwavering intent and a twinkle in it’s eye.

Next come two pairings straight from the frontline of Berlin’s vibrant electronic community. First, Martin Eyerer & Namito join forces for ‘Durant’, a no-frills beast of a tune that operates with intense efficiency. Lean and mean, a fine specimen.

We follow that with a pairing that between them, already have 6 Selador releases under their belt and it’s time to make it seven as Florian Kruse & Justin Massei step up with ‘Norssken’. A pulsating prime time workout crafted to cause optimum damage on the dance floor. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

To round things off, two more artists who’ve been no strangers to the label throughout our first 5 years, our Manchester and French connections respectively, Simon JOBE and Antoine ‘Acumen’ Garcin. They combine for ‘Incontrolable’, a 9 minute futuristic odyssey as insubordinate as it’s title suggests. Dance music from outer space.

And that’s Part 2 folks. Hold tight. Back soon with Part 3.

Team Selador – It’s a family affair.

Acumen ‘The Modernist’ EP: Out Now

Frenchman Antoine Garcin (aka Acumen) will already be a familiar name to Selador fans following his superb ‘Instinct Primaire/ Femme Fatale’ EP last year as well as his remix for Lonya on ‘The World That Disappears’ and an appearance on our 5th Showcase Compilation with ‘Ici Ou Allieurs’. Be warned however, he’s only just getting started!

An artist who falls effortlessly into the ‘prolific’ category, his recent procession of releases for the likes of Last Night On Earth, Einmusika and Non Stop are soon to be followed by an entire album on his own Time Has Changed imprint. In the meantime though, we managed to grab ourselves another piece of the pie and accordingly present ‘The Modernist’ EP as our second outing of the year.

The 4 tracker consists of a brace of originals coming in two very different ‘Pre’ and ‘Post’ varieties whilst remix duties fall to the ever reliable UK producer Simon JOBE and French new boys, Yeuz both of whom we predict are destined for rather large things this year.

Pick yourself a winner.

Selador Recordings – Master modernists.

OUT NOW: LONYA ‘THE WORLD THAT DISAPPEARS’

A weapon of choice for Selador head honchos Dave Seaman & Steve Parry for several months now, the time has finally come for Lonya’s return to the label with the massive ‘The World That Disappears’.

The Israeli producer drops flanked by remixes from Norway’s finest, Finnebassen, plus our favourite Frenchman, Acumen and long time friend of the label, Han Haak who all prove themselves up to the task. Three sterling reworks that inspire and excite in equal measures, all destined to light up your dance floors over the coming weeks.

Yet another blinding package. It’s what we do.

Selador Showcase – The Fifth Element EP Out Now

The illustrious fifth edition of Selador’s Showcase series is an altogether heavyweight affair featuring a whole host of electronic music’s big hitters. For many of this all-star cast it also constitutes a baptism of sorts as we welcome them to the label ahead of fully blown releases further down the line. So without further ado, let us introduce you to the runners and riders..

The first of our contenders pairs one of the label’s mainstays, our boy Quivver, with another legend of the scene, Funk D Void for a rather special collaboration. Together they deliver ’Dual State’, an assured piece of bass heavy electronic goodness that only 5 decades worth of combined experience can yield. Look out y’all, master craftsmen at work.

Next up we welcome Florian Kruse to the fold. The German’s stock has been on the rise recently with releases on Suara, Green & Noir and now he graces Selador with his own special brand of Melodic Techno. ‘Homebound’ is a sure-fire winner if ever we’ve heard one. Top marks.

Our old friend Stelios Vassiloudis is also riding high on a hot streak right now off the back of releases on Bedrock & Poker Flat and here he continues that rich vein of form with the deep, darkness of ‘Burn’. Modernistic and menacing, this is music from the edge. Badass.

Another good friend of the label, our favourite Spaniard, Affkt is next in line with the stirring ‘Cliff’. Underpinned by an effervescent string motif and taut arrangement, it growls and fizzes it’s way through an intensive 6 minute workout. Bold and striking.

From Spain we head across the border to France where Acumen picks up the baton for the first time on Selador with ‘Ici Ou Allieurs’. A rousing affair bursting with energy and attitude, this is just a taste of what’s to come from the Frenchman on our label. Stellar work.

Jamie Stevens is next to join the party with a slice of electronic sophistication like only he knows how. Discerning and restrained, this is an elegant creation that deserves your focused attention. The devil is in the detail. Outstanding.

And finally, to close off in style we welcome Flowers & Sea Creatures. The Canadian duo have been a firm favourite here at Selador for several years with Dave Seaman even including them on his Renaissance Masters compilation as far back as 2011. Here they serve up the irresistible ‘Blades Nokturne’, a work of delicate beauty delivered in their own inimitable style. Exquisite.

Without doubt, it’s a compilation to be proud of. Take a bow, one and all. Bravo.

Team Selador- Bringing The Noise.
