OUT NOW: JOBE ‘VII’ EP

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll already know that we’re big fans of JOBE here at Selador. It should be obvious really. This is already his 4th appearance of the year for us including contributions on each of the last 3 – Consecutively! Keep up 😉

It’s fair to say Simon is having a stellar year thus far with releases on Monaberry & Steyoyoke interspersed between our quartet of Selador outings that included both a collaboration and a remix in cahoots with Acumen, an appearance on our recent Showcase 7 compilation and now this well deserved, long overdue stand-alone EP to boot.

Here, Simon serves up two originals for us to chose from. Decide between the dazzling magnetism of the title track ‘VII’ or the best-in-class opulence of ’Serein’. Both meticulously crafted down to the finest detail by a producer on top of his game. And if that wasn’t enough, the EP also boasts the rather extravagant bonus of a Mathias Schober remix. Under his SHOW-B guise, Mathias delivered one of Selador’s finest ever moments with his remix of Jaap Ligthart & Alice Rose’s ‘I Know Change’ back in 2015 so naturally we’re delighted to have him back on the label.

Something of a family reunion then..  but without the dysfunctional drunk Uncle!

Out Now: Selador Showcase – The Magnificent Seventh

The inimitable Selador Showcase is back for it’s seventh instalment and returns fully stocked.

From Sweden to Argentina, Belgium to Belarus, Germany to the UK and the USA to Ukraine, we really have raided the musical larder to bring a fully international flavour to proceedings.

The banquet commences with Zoo Brazil at the top table offering up a veritable feast in the form of ‘Across My Heart’. As you’d expect from such a highly regarded producer with years of experience under his belt, the Swede brings an refined, assured presence to the menu. Bon appetite.

Our second dish sees Nico Morano take the baton with ‘Bratan’, a menacing chunk of melodic Tech house. Nico maybe a new name to many but the Belgian is proving himself to be quite a force in his native homeland and we reckon his reputation is set to spread like proverbial wildfire. Box fresh.

Next up we welcome back JOBE to the label straight off the back of his recent success alongside Acumen with ‘Uncontrollable’ on our 5th Birthday EP series. Once again he plunges head first into futuristic territory for a hyper cool intergalactic journey.

We turn our attention to Interaxxis next who make their Seladorian debut with ‘Morning Without Sun’. The Argentinian duo have been causing quite a stir recently with releases for the likes of Sudbeat and Hope and this classy piece of work will only add further value to their stock.

We then head to Los Angeles for a taste of West Coast action courtesy of Freddy Be & Savi Leon. An expertly crafted slice of sunshine house, ‘Whatcha Wanna Say’ takes it’s lead from Datar’s turn-of-the-millennium classic ‘B’ and melds it into something entirely befitting of a new generation. Hot!

Sixth in line and it’s Dmitry Molosh & Stas Drive’s turn to take centre stage with ‘Pleiades’, a modernistic progressive workout full of style and attitude that will make even the most hardened listener sit up and notice. Take heed.

And last but by no means least TH;EN takes us to the finishing line with energy to burn. The German plays ’Checkers’ to perfection capturing the very essence of our Showcase compilations… Extraordinary club music.

Seven of the best to get your teeth into… Seladorian style!

Out Now – 5th Birthday EP Part Two

Selador’s 5th Birthday celebrations continue apace with the second of our trilogy of commemorative EPs featuring exclusive collaborations between some of the label’s family of artists.

Part 2 kicks off with the boss men Dave Seaman & Steve Parry who come together for the first time in the studio and as you’d expect, the result is pure Selador. ‘Repeat Offender’ carries all the hallmarks of the what you’ve come to expect from the label. Carefully crafted, contemporary club music with unwavering intent and a twinkle in it’s eye.

Next come two pairings straight from the frontline of Berlin’s vibrant electronic community. First, Martin Eyerer & Namito join forces for ‘Durant’, a no-frills beast of a tune that operates with intense efficiency. Lean and mean, a fine specimen.

We follow that with a pairing that between them, already have 6 Selador releases under their belt and it’s time to make it seven as Florian Kruse & Justin Massei step up with ‘Norssken’. A pulsating prime time workout crafted to cause optimum damage on the dance floor. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

To round things off, two more artists who’ve been no strangers to the label throughout our first 5 years, our Manchester and French connections respectively, Simon JOBE and Antoine ‘Acumen’ Garcin. They combine for ‘Incontrolable’, a 9 minute futuristic odyssey as insubordinate as it’s title suggests. Dance music from outer space.

And that’s Part 2 folks. Hold tight. Back soon with Part 3.

Team Selador – It’s a family affair.

Acumen ‘The Modernist’ EP: Out Now

Frenchman Antoine Garcin (aka Acumen) will already be a familiar name to Selador fans following his superb ‘Instinct Primaire/ Femme Fatale’ EP last year as well as his remix for Lonya on ‘The World That Disappears’ and an appearance on our 5th Showcase Compilation with ‘Ici Ou Allieurs’. Be warned however, he’s only just getting started!

An artist who falls effortlessly into the ‘prolific’ category, his recent procession of releases for the likes of Last Night On Earth, Einmusika and Non Stop are soon to be followed by an entire album on his own Time Has Changed imprint. In the meantime though, we managed to grab ourselves another piece of the pie and accordingly present ‘The Modernist’ EP as our second outing of the year.

The 4 tracker consists of a brace of originals coming in two very different ‘Pre’ and ‘Post’ varieties whilst remix duties fall to the ever reliable UK producer Simon JOBE and French new boys, Yeuz both of whom we predict are destined for rather large things this year.

Pick yourself a winner.

OUT NOW: JOBE ‘LAW OF ENTROPY’ EP

jobe-2

Roll up, roll up. Gather round people. It’s time for another first class delivery from your new favourite label 😉 Next up on Selador Recordings, we’re pleased to welcome Simon JOBE into our ever growing brood who comes armed with 3 lethal weapons that might just give meaning to the second amendment!

You may already be familiar with JOBE through his previous releases for the likes of Akbal Music or Connaissueur Recordings but if not, don’t worry, just acquaint yourself with this EP by way of an introduction.

Law Of Entropy kicks things off, setting the mood with it’s brooding low end, rising crescendos and captivating synth patterns. Executed with class.

Fellow Northerner, Cristoph is first up on the re-rubs with yet another lesson in remix mastery as he carefully retains much of the original’s charm whilst turning the energy levels a couple of notches. A main room assignment.

Next comes ‘Dissonant’, full of drama, swirling atmospherics and a breakdown that’s sure to cause it’s fair share mayhem. Take cover!

Then it’s the turn of Hungarian housemaster, Snilloc who reinvents ‘Dissonant’ as a super stylish, specimen of chunky modern house music. Dirty bomb!

And finally, the curtain call comes courtesy of ‘Critical Mass’, the most intense of the 3 originals, with it’s relentless arpeggios and snarling bass. Proficient, polished and on point.

Basically, you’re looking down the barrel of 3 high grade original productions accompanied by a couple of on-target remixes. Another fine collection of ammunition for your arsenal.

Selador Recordings – All guns blazing x
