Since Dee Montero last appeared on Selador back in 2016 with the wonderful Fugazi EP, his trajectory has continued to soar with releases for the likes of Diynamic, Knee Deep In Sound and Anjunadeep not to mention DJing everywhere from Burning Man to the Brooklyn Mirage and Womb Tokyo to Hi Ibiza… although we just did! ;-/
It’s been no surprise to us that his talents have been so in demand. His innate sense of melody and structure paired with a long founded understanding of the needs of a dance floor are something we’ve been big fans of here at Selador HQ for longer than any of us care to remember, so it’s with great pleasure we welcome him back to the fold.
‘Radian’ has been a secret weapon of both Messrs Parry & Seaman for several months now so it’s with considerable excitement tinged with a hint of begrudged reluctance that we are finally able share it with the World at large. It’s a tried and tested dance floor destroyer that never fails, from us to you. You’re welcome 🙂
Danish supremo Christian Nielsen also weighs in with his own interpretation which is no less dependable and equally as potent and we even found space to revisit Dee’s first ever contribution to Selador ‘Fade Into Noir’ featuring the sumptuous vocal of Aya from our very first Showcase compilation in 2014. Update duties fell to thriving UK Producer Made By Pete who met the challenge head on and delivered in spades.
Team Selador – Mathematically correct.
The Tel Aviv electronic music scene has been a fertile ground for DJ/Producers of a deep melodic (some may say “Progressive”) persuasion in recent years. Centred around such legendary clubs as The Cat & The Dog and Haoman 17 (both now defunct), there has been a long list of talent to emerge out of their legacies.
Chico Shuella (aka Chicola) is one such artist. A player whose wealth of experience and expertise shines through here on 3 tracks of the utmost quality and distinction. From ‘Cachengue’s laid-back swagger to the self-assured splendour of ‘Mandragora’ and the rolling peak time energy of ‘The Black Hall’, it’s an EP for all occasions. No remixes required.
Selador Recordings – Purveyors of the nocturnal noise x
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll already know that we’re big fans of JOBE here at Selador. It should be obvious really. This is already his 4th appearance of the year for us including contributions on each of the last 3 – Consecutively! Keep up 😉
It’s fair to say Simon is having a stellar year thus far with releases on Monaberry & Steyoyoke interspersed between our quartet of Selador outings that included both a collaboration and a remix in cahoots with Acumen, an appearance on our recent Showcase 7 compilation and now this well deserved, long overdue stand-alone EP to boot.
Here, Simon serves up two originals for us to chose from. Decide between the dazzling magnetism of the title track ‘VII’ or the best-in-class opulence of ’Serein’. Both meticulously crafted down to the finest detail by a producer on top of his game. And if that wasn’t enough, the EP also boasts the rather extravagant bonus of a Mathias Schober remix. Under his SHOW-B guise, Mathias delivered one of Selador’s finest ever moments with his remix of Jaap Ligthart & Alice Rose’s ‘I Know Change’ back in 2015 so naturally we’re delighted to have him back on the label.
Something of a family reunion then.. but without the dysfunctional drunk Uncle!
