Selador Showcase – The Fifth Element EP Out Now

The illustrious fifth edition of Selador’s Showcase series is an altogether heavyweight affair featuring a whole host of electronic music’s big hitters. For many of this all-star cast it also constitutes a baptism of sorts as we welcome them to the label ahead of fully blown releases further down the line. So without further ado, let us introduce you to the runners and riders..

The first of our contenders pairs one of the label’s mainstays, our boy Quivver, with another legend of the scene, Funk D Void for a rather special collaboration. Together they deliver ’Dual State’, an assured piece of bass heavy electronic goodness that only 5 decades worth of combined experience can yield. Look out y’all, master craftsmen at work.

Next up we welcome Florian Kruse to the fold. The German’s stock has been on the rise recently with releases on Suara, Green & Noir and now he graces Selador with his own special brand of Melodic Techno. ‘Homebound’ is a sure-fire winner if ever we’ve heard one. Top marks.

Our old friend Stelios Vassiloudis is also riding high on a hot streak right now off the back of releases on Bedrock & Poker Flat and here he continues that rich vein of form with the deep, darkness of ‘Burn’. Modernistic and menacing, this is music from the edge. Badass.

Another good friend of the label, our favourite Spaniard, Affkt is next in line with the stirring ‘Cliff’. Underpinned by an effervescent string motif and taut arrangement, it growls and fizzes it’s way through an intensive 6 minute workout. Bold and striking.

From Spain we head across the border to France where Acumen picks up the baton for the first time on Selador with ‘Ici Ou Allieurs’. A rousing affair bursting with energy and attitude, this is just a taste of what’s to come from the Frenchman on our label. Stellar work.

Jamie Stevens is next to join the party with a slice of electronic sophistication like only he knows how. Discerning and restrained, this is an elegant creation that deserves your focused attention. The devil is in the detail. Outstanding.

And finally, to close off in style we welcome Flowers & Sea Creatures. The Canadian duo have been a firm favourite here at Selador for several years with Dave Seaman even including them on his Renaissance Masters compilation as far back as 2011. Here they serve up the irresistible ‘Blades Nokturne’, a work of delicate beauty delivered in their own inimitable style. Exquisite.

Without doubt, it’s a compilation to be proud of. Take a bow, one and all. Bravo.

OUT NOW: FRAMEWERK ‘FEEL YOU HOLD YOU’ EP

framewerk-2And so, as 2015 reaches its closing stages, Selador Recordings proudly present our final release of the year. To finish off in style, please step forward Darren James & Alec Milliner, aka Framewerk, a UK duo that have been on our radar for some time but we believe have excelled themselves here, delivering their finest work to date on the ‘Feel You Hold You’ EP.

The Original Mix (10 points for anyone who can guess the vocal sample by the way) has already made it onto Dave Seaman’s forthcoming Beyond Borders: Berlin mix compilation in all it’s deep, atmospheric glory and then on remix duties we have friend of the label, John ‘Quivver’ Graham plus one of our favourite Techno producers, man of the moment, Sasha Carassi. Both have turned in stellar performances befitting of the occasion, each with their own distinct sound and flavour. Place your bets people, pick a winner.

Completing the package is a track that will be instantly familiar to anyone who was clubbing in the mid 90s. Dee Patten’s ‘Who’s The Badman’ is considered a stone cold classic in many circles and this 2015 remake gives it a whole new lease of life. A Brucie bonus definitely not to be missed.

OUT NOW: Quivver ‘Wait For You’ EP

quivver-1John ‘Quivver’ Graham is something of a legend in electronic music circles having consistently spent the best part of 20 years dropping release after release of top quality productions and DJing every far flung corner of the globe to boot.

His body of work speaks for itself having released on the likes of Bedrock, Strictly Rhythm, Yoshitoshi and his own Boz Boz imprint whilst also working on an array of blockbuster film scores and high profile game soundtracks, Batman & Call Of Duty amongst them..

His debut for us here at Selador is, as expected, a formidable offering that brings two outstanding new original productions to the table. ‘Wait For You’ is a precision engineered gem of electronic goodness with it’s captivating percussion, seductive bassline and tortured vocal hook. Lay back and enjoy the ride.

‘Everything Remains The Same’ follows with all the self assured swagger of a kid brother aiming on stealing the limelight for himself. Another masterclass in production technique coupled with an impeccable choice of sounds, it’s once again pure, unadulterated Quivver. Surrender is the only option.

Adding fuel to the fire, first up on remix duties we have a huge melodic Techno depiction by the original dynamic duo from Deutschland, Christian D-Nox & Frank Beckers. And boy, they didn’t just hit it big, they knocked it clean out of the park! Three words. Peak. Time. Anthem.

The final portrayal sees esteemed Berlin resident, Habischman take up the cause with gusto to deliver another interpretation oozing class. It’s spellbinding stuff delivered with the kind of depth Jacques Cousteau would be proud of. Superb.

We just don’t know when to stop do we?!

Selador Recordings – You’re welcome 🙂
