Selador Showcase – The Fifth Element EP Out Now

The illustrious fifth edition of Selador’s Showcase series is an altogether heavyweight affair featuring a whole host of electronic music’s big hitters. For many of this all-star cast it also constitutes a baptism of sorts as we welcome them to the label ahead of fully blown releases further down the line. So without further ado, let us introduce you to the runners and riders..

The first of our contenders pairs one of the label’s mainstays, our boy Quivver, with another legend of the scene, Funk D Void for a rather special collaboration. Together they deliver ’Dual State’, an assured piece of bass heavy electronic goodness that only 5 decades worth of combined experience can yield. Look out y’all, master craftsmen at work.

Next up we welcome Florian Kruse to the fold. The German’s stock has been on the rise recently with releases on Suara, Green & Noir and now he graces Selador with his own special brand of Melodic Techno. ‘Homebound’ is a sure-fire winner if ever we’ve heard one. Top marks.

Our old friend Stelios Vassiloudis is also riding high on a hot streak right now off the back of releases on Bedrock & Poker Flat and here he continues that rich vein of form with the deep, darkness of ‘Burn’. Modernistic and menacing, this is music from the edge. Badass.

Another good friend of the label, our favourite Spaniard, Affkt is next in line with the stirring ‘Cliff’. Underpinned by an effervescent string motif and taut arrangement, it growls and fizzes it’s way through an intensive 6 minute workout. Bold and striking.

From Spain we head across the border to France where Acumen picks up the baton for the first time on Selador with ‘Ici Ou Allieurs’. A rousing affair bursting with energy and attitude, this is just a taste of what’s to come from the Frenchman on our label. Stellar work.

Jamie Stevens is next to join the party with a slice of electronic sophistication like only he knows how. Discerning and restrained, this is an elegant creation that deserves your focused attention. The devil is in the detail. Outstanding.

And finally, to close off in style we welcome Flowers & Sea Creatures. The Canadian duo have been a firm favourite here at Selador for several years with Dave Seaman even including them on his Renaissance Masters compilation as far back as 2011. Here they serve up the irresistible ‘Blades Nokturne’, a work of delicate beauty delivered in their own inimitable style. Exquisite.

Without doubt, it’s a compilation to be proud of. Take a bow, one and all. Bravo.

Team Selador- Bringing The Noise.

Selador Showcase – The Fourth Dimension Compilation – Part Two

Hot on the heels of it’s elder sibling Part One, we’re very happy to now bring you the second volume of this thrilling two parter. Seven more dance floor delights from the Showcase treasure chest.

Label boss Steve Parry gets proceedings underway with ‘Luna’. Our man doesn’t release much music as he’s notoriously fussy, so we’re delighted he finally deemed this one worthy by his own lofty standards. ‘Luna’ is a hommage to his own Liverpool based parties and fuses housier elements with plenty of drive, roof raising stabs and his hallmark sprinkling of acid for good measure too. It’s a biggie!

The legendary Jaydee then steps up with ‘Basemento’. A bit of a coup for Selador as the Dutchman’s releases are probably rarer than Steve’s! Here we find a throbbing, bass driven, peak time slab of energy that will have you on the first train to Gurnsville quicker than you can say double drop.

Another dance music legend is next as Wally Lopez drops ‘Focused’. This may raise a few eyebrows as it’s a bit of a left turn from the Spaniard’s recent productions. Here he shows his darker side. Melodic and punchy but with a serious kick.. You’ve been warned.

Label favourite Joal returns after his recent ‘Magician’ release with ‘Eskimo’. Trippy and bubbly but with a composed posture, it’s the arp line that emerges into the dominant force here. Quirky and cool as always from this fine producer, it’s a head melter.

Another Selador debut follows as SQL lands a floaty yet ballsey gem in the form of ‘Phoenix’. The Dutch gent has been on our radar since day one so we were delighted when this winner landed in our inbox. Infectious, tinkling melodies are order of the day, but offset by a moody undertone. Crackerjack.

Ibizan based Alice Clark perked our ears right up when we heard ‘Chaser (Six.AM Remix)’. Channelling a retro underground Detroit house feel yet still sounding ultra fresh, this has been road tested by us many times and always delivers the goods without fail.

Rounding things off is Romanian producer, Punu. We were tipped off on this track by our mutual friend, André Hommen and it turns out he knew us well as we love it! Skippy beats reminiscent of Black Coffee collide with layer upon layer of rollercoaster melodies. Top notch.

It’s 2017 Seladorian style. The shape of things to come.
