As the dust settles on our 100th release celebrations with all its pomp and ceremony, it’s time to get back to life, back to reality, to what we do best, back to the business of serving up the freshest, quality club music from some of the World’s finest Electronic Music Producers.
And what better way to do that than with a debut EP for the label from Christian Nielsen. It’s likely that anyone with even a passing interest in dance music will have encountered the Danish Producer’s work at some point. Through his releases on such esteemed labels as Kompakt, Toolroom and FFRR, his resumé speaks for itself.
Here he offers a brace of heavenly creations in ‘After Midnight’ & ‘Indestructible’ with two of our most trusted label stalwarts, EdOne & Florian Kruse both chipping in with their own perspectives, adding further weight to an already hefty package.
In many ways, this EP exemplifies all we stand for with its finger firmly on-the-pulse of contemporary dance music, full of flair and imagination yet unwavering in its primary objective, to light up the dance floor.
Here’s to the next hundred.
Team Selador – Back in the saddle
French Producer Acumen is very much part of the furniture these days here at Selador HQ. So much so, it’s high time he had his own key to the front door! With several releases already under his belt not to mention a string of remixes, he’s now back with another 3 tracker that’s all set turn heads and ruffle a few feathers in the process.
We get sent a lot of music from Antoine. Prolific doesn’t even cover it. No sooner had he dropped an artist album earlier in the summer for his own Time Has Changed imprint, than 3 weeks later, he sent us another album’s worth of material, all of the highest quality. Our only problem was picking out our 3 favourites. Hard work or hardly working? You decide 😉
So here they are. In all their glory. Take your pick.
It’s a win, win situation.
Team Selador – Someone’s gotta do it!
The Tel Aviv electronic music scene has been a fertile ground for DJ/Producers of a deep melodic (some may say “Progressive”) persuasion in recent years. Centred around such legendary clubs as The Cat & The Dog and Haoman 17 (both now defunct), there has been a long list of talent to emerge out of their legacies.
Chico Shuella (aka Chicola) is one such artist. A player whose wealth of experience and expertise shines through here on 3 tracks of the utmost quality and distinction. From ‘Cachengue’s laid-back swagger to the self-assured splendour of ‘Mandragora’ and the rolling peak time energy of ‘The Black Hall’, it’s an EP for all occasions. No remixes required.
Selador Recordings – Purveyors of the nocturnal noise x
Danny Howells, Darren Emerson & Dave Seaman’s 3D Project is back on Selador with 3 more original productions from the intrepid trio.
When three high ranking Acid House Generals world’s collide, the results were bound to produce something special and so it’s proved.
Coming straight off the back of a highly successful tour of South America and a string of European Festival dates, the legendary threesome pick up where they left off on their debut EP earlier this year with another high calibre release.
This time Dave paves the way with ‘Rodales’, a huge weapon in his sets over the last few months, it’s all about the prolonged teasing build, bass drop payoff and distorted melodies. All good things come to those who wait!
Then Darren steps up with the wonderfully titled ‘BUB’, a multi-faceted mystical beast straight out of the leftfield. Balearic Techno anyone?
And finally, Danny drops a banger in the form of ‘Violencia’, an acid tinged, peak time roller that’ll singe your eyebrows if you stand too close. Hot!
In a way, the EP neatly encapsulates the 3D project as a whole. Individually, each is a winner in it’s own right but collectively, it’s greater than the sum of its parts. Three is the magic number.
Selador Recordings – All for one and one for all x
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll already know that we’re big fans of JOBE here at Selador. It should be obvious really. This is already his 4th appearance of the year for us including contributions on each of the last 3 – Consecutively! Keep up 😉
It’s fair to say Simon is having a stellar year thus far with releases on Monaberry & Steyoyoke interspersed between our quartet of Selador outings that included both a collaboration and a remix in cahoots with Acumen, an appearance on our recent Showcase 7 compilation and now this well deserved, long overdue stand-alone EP to boot.
Here, Simon serves up two originals for us to chose from. Decide between the dazzling magnetism of the title track ‘VII’ or the best-in-class opulence of ’Serein’. Both meticulously crafted down to the finest detail by a producer on top of his game. And if that wasn’t enough, the EP also boasts the rather extravagant bonus of a Mathias Schober remix. Under his SHOW-B guise, Mathias delivered one of Selador’s finest ever moments with his remix of Jaap Ligthart & Alice Rose’s ‘I Know Change’ back in 2015 so naturally we’re delighted to have him back on the label.
Something of a family reunion then.. but without the dysfunctional drunk Uncle!
