Steve Parry on Weekly Livestream Duty
27 May 2020

Our own Steve Parry has been on regular live stream duty every Friday during lockdown, starting at 8pm UK time. His (almost) weekly mixes since lockdown started have gained listeners around the Globe who have been missing their default dance floor activities.

Steve said ‘I really enjoy live streaming. It’s kind of like being a bedroom DJ again (where it all began) apart from people are actually listening’ 😉

Blending old and new from deep flavours to peak time bangers, Steve added ‘the fact that there isn’t a dance floor, makes it more flexible musically in live streams. It’s nice being able to drop a hot new upcoming Selador track, followed by something that used to get played in The Hacienda.. it’s re-writing the rules a bit, and as I like so many types of music and I’ve got decades worth of stuff, it’s great to dig deep’.

He continues, ‘Knowing people from around the Globe is a a benefit of being a DJ. A perk of travelling is you get to meet so many like minded people in so many places.  It’s amazing when friends from Mexico City or Florida pop along and say hello on your live stream, I’ve had people in Beirut to The Gold Coast all tuning in to.’

‘It’s also lovely to see so many DJs drop by, from my musical other half Dave Seaman, to Renaissance legends Anthony Pappa and Nigel Dawson and lots of local DJs. Actually I even got a notification that legendary Radio 1 DJ Bruno Brooks was tuned in the other week!. My inner geek exploded with joy!’
