PARRY TAKES GOLD WITH OLYMPIAN-LEVEL NEW RELEASE

PARRY TAKES GOLD WITH OLYMPIAN-LEVEL NEW RELEASE

Steve’s 2023 releases, c/o our mighty Decade series EPs, saw him indulge in a little synchronised tuneage with our good friend Renato Cohen; and deliver a devastating lead leg on dancefloor relay duty with Mario Franca & Captain Mustache. Now, at long last, he’s back in the solo saddle and, with firm instructions to yer humble Seladorian to dispense with the Olympics stuff cos it’s time to move on (‘twas ever this with Stevo, his laurels haven’t been rested on in aeons), drops the essential Won’t You Believe.

In true Parry style, it morphs genres for fun – it’s deep but squelchily acidic, heads down progmungous but with the catchiest of ‘light touch’ vocal hooks, all riding atop a techno train.

We’re also delighted to usher label debutant Dachshund into the building. He delivers a remix that acknowledges and utilises key elements from the original version, while effortlessly blending in a plethora of fresh riffage, from the melodic to the klangtastic.

AND FINALLY...

Dave is:

watching – The Bikeriders “Jeff Nichols’ stylish 60s Chicago biker gang adventure with great turns by Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer and Austin Butler”

reading / listening to – ‘You Don’t Need A Dick To Be A DJ’ by Smokin’ Jo audiobook. “One of the more articulate, honest and engaging DJ memoirs out there”

Steve is:

reading – I managed to start Steven Vass’s Let the Music Play: how R&B fell in love with 80s synths. Geek-tastic.

watching – Presumed Innocent. Well, this is a bit crazy. Twisty and turny and keeps you guessing throughout.

listening to – In my effort to try and relax occasionally, I seem to have jumped back in to listening to Yacht Rock. And loving it. (plenty of that genre here – Ed. tooslowtodisco.com)

The Seladorian is:

reading – This Must be The Place, gorging on another weighty tome about late 70s / early 80s NYC, an era / place my time machine is forever headed for.

watching – just finished The Jetty, a nice bite-sized (4 episodes) Beeb drama, now chilling (still Beeb-style) with Celebrity Race Across the World – not an especially captivating bunch of celebs, if truth be told, but a great way to see South America

listening to – Dave Seaman & Anthony Pappa’s mammoth 8 hours + B2B from Montreal’s legendary Stereo
