And just like that, in what seems like the blink of an eye, Selador turns 7 years old and in turn, the Selador Showcase series slips into double figures.
During these challenging times, it seems slightly strange to be celebrating anniversaries but music is one of the best forms of solace, inspiration and distraction we have, so despite most of the World’s dance floors being on lockdown right now, it’s good to know we can still share, connect and help beat those lockdown blues.
Our tenth Showcase compilation features six new and exclusive cuts from some long time friends of the label and one or two new ones to boot.
First up we welcome, Israeli duo Adam Ten & Mita Gami who transform South African Indie outfit, Diamond Thug’s ‘Face The Sky’ from downtempo guitar groover into an effervescent, stand-out floor filler. The art of remixing at its most compelling.
Next up, Kiz Pattison & Micah join forces for ‘Beam Of Light’. An electrifying beast of a tune that has been a mainstay in Sasha’s sets in recent months. A real roof raiser if ever we’ve heard one. Buckle up.
Our Dutch friend Jaap Ligthart then weighs in with ‘Fubar’, a track so on point it’s shameful. Driving, enigmatic and melodically abstract. The sound of now.
Next it’s the formidable combo of Sonic Union, Forniva & Eleven Sins who pool their considerable resources to bring us ‘Elevate’, another Zeitgeist surfing serving of dance floor goodness. Be warned, resistance is futile.
Lonya & Patrick Kunkel then switch us to the ‘Durban Channel’ where we find the duo in exhilarating form. A muscular arp led melodic throbber fit for those special peak time occasions.
And last but by no means least, the long awaited, much vaunted anthem Messrs Seaman & Parry have been relentlessly championing, Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s modern classic, ‘Dangerous’ finally gets unleashed. Needless to say, we think this one is something special.
And that friends, is how we intend to continue to roll here at Selador HQ. By putting our best foot forward and ploughing on regardless, offering positivity in the only way we know how, through the medium of quality club music.
Fuck Covid. Rave on!
